Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transit (TART) has launched its expanded summer schedule, operating July 1 to September 7, with extended night service, more frequent buses on popular routes, increased service for popular events, and real-time tracking capabilities.
The enhanced summer service is designed to provide convenient transportation while helping reduce traffic congestion, ease parking demand, and encourage the use of free public transit throughout the region.
To help alleviate congestion during one of the busiest weekends of the year, there are several free shuttle options for the Fourth of July. For the Tahoe City Fireworks, free Park & Ride shuttles will operate from Northstar and Palisades Tahoe, with stops at Olympic Valley lodging properties, the Kings Beach Safeway, and communities along the West Shore. In Truckee, the Town of Truckee will operate free shuttles on six routes serving the Fireworks at the West End of Donner Lake, providing a convenient alternative to driving and parking.
New this summer, TART is introducing 30-minute service between Crystal Bay and Northstar on Fridays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The increased frequency along the Highway 267 corridor makes it easier for residents and visitors to travel to Kings Beach and other popular destinations without a car.
Additional transit service will also be available for several popular summer events, including the weekly Commons Beach Concert Series and the Labor Day Drone Show, helping attendees avoid parking challenges while reducing traffic congestion.
TART’s North Tahoe Night Service continues this summer, with buses operating until 10 p.m. or 11 p.m., depending on the route, allowing riders to enjoy dining, shopping, and evening events hassle-free. Riders traveling between Truckee and Northstar during evening hours can use TART Connect.
To make planning trips even easier, riders are encouraged to download the Transit app, which offers real-time bus tracking, trip planning, and service alerts for TART and Truckee Local fixed-route services. Real-time tracking is not available for special event shuttles.
