The North Lake Tahoe Express Airport Shuttle—providing daily service between North Tahoe, Truckee, and Reno-Tahoe International Airport—has launched a new early morning winter shuttle to serve additional flights. The added service operates on the Tahoe City/Olympic Valley/Truckee route, the shuttle’s highest-ridership corridor.

This new early morning shuttle begins on the West Shore at 3:45 a.m., with stops available at the Tahoe City Transit Center, select Tahoe City and Olympic Valley lodging properties, and the Truckee Train Depot before departing for the Reno airport. The shuttle operates on a reservation basis and will stop only at locations with booked passengers. The estimated airport arrival time is 5:30 a.m, providing access to approximately a dozen additional morning flight departures.

“We’ve received consistent requests for service at this time, with early morning being the busiest travel period at the airport,” said Caroline Craffey, Program Manager for the Truckee North Tahoe Transportation Management Association (TNTTMA). “Rideshare services are not always reliable in our region—especially early in the morning—so we’re excited to offer a dependable alternative that also encourages the use of public transportation.”

The North Lake Tahoe Express offers an eco-friendly, stress-free alternative to driving, eliminating the need for airport parking or rental cars. With rising airport parking costs and limited availability, the shuttle provides a reliable option for locals and visitors alike. Currently, there are no public transportation options that go directly from Truckee to the airport.

Upon arrival in the Tahoe–Truckee region, passengers can take advantage of free local transportation, including the TART regional bus system and TART Connect on-demand microtransit, making it easy to get around without a car.

The TNTTMA works with public and private partners to advance sustainable transportation solutions through services such as TART, TART Connect, TART Park & Ride, and the North Tahoe Workforce Vanpool. The North Lake Tahoe Express is managed by the Truckee North Tahoe Transportation Management Association, operated by My Ride to Work, and supported by Placer County, Travel North Tahoe Nevada, Washoe County, Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority, and the Town of Truckee.
